Jayant Vishnu Narlikar (born 19 July 1938) is an Indian astrophysicist, Padma Vibhushan awardee, emeritus professor and founding director at the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA). He developed with Sir Fred Hoyle the conformal gravity theory, known as Hoyle–Narlikar theory. Apart from his scientific research, Narlikar is known as a communicator of science through his Astrophysics textbooks, science fiction novels, articles, radio and television programs.
